Major Project.
4th March – 28th May is a solid Dark Green patch on my timetable. After a few weeks the whole week is devoured by this Green patch, so this is a hench project. I’ve kinda decided what I wan’t to do this year for my MP, and also have an idea for my FMP in the 3rd year, but let’s see how it goes.
So, for my MP this year, I think I wan’t to make a Music Video. I know of a band who will be up for it, just a case of proposing I wanna do a Music Video and if I can, then decide on what track, scene and overall feel the video should have. Also, I know for some people who know me and might read this might thing ‘But Dave, you’ve never done a Music Video before, why do you want to do one now?’ Well, if I’m totally honest I’ve always wanted to do one. I’ve also always wanted to do exteme sport’s videos, epicly funny comedy sketchs, films or shows, but never really had the drive or chance to try. (More on the latter later. 
) But yes, back to the question… As I said in my earlier blog post, some videos make me not like them down to their editing. Granted not everyones styles are the same, but there is a uniform style I belive and if I and other people don’t like the video, there must be something wrong with it if you think about it. I’ve always been a fan of people that do more than just Music Videos too, as I belive that’s what I am. Someone like Spike Jonze for example. He’s done TV Shows, Films, Skateboarding videos and Music Videos. (Not to mention acted in films too…) and if you were to replace his name with mine, there all thing’s I want to do.
I would get bored just doing one thing if I’m totally honest, to sit there and make lot’s of films or music videos and only just do the one thing would be fun don’t get me wrong but will also get boring. It’s kinda like getting up, working in a cubical on a computer all day and then sleeping only to repeat the process for 20 years. Although you may like that job, you will also hate it for it’s repetativeness, hence my need to variety I think. Also, I can’t just sit there and come up with an idea for something and do nothing else. I can’t just get a set of orders from others and then record what they want or suggest new things to record… I’m the sort of person who would want to come up with the script, the scene, the look, then film and act in it and also edit the bugger! Looking at sitcoms or sketch shows, the main comedians in them create the script and comedy and also act in them, but they don’t record or edit their program, that’s in the hands of someone else. Granted I would ditch being behind the camera recording to favour being infront of it and acting, but everything else I would want in on.
Also, when it comes down to films and shows, I love the quirkiness of things such as Airplane, Naked Gun, Scary Movie, Hot Rod, Ali G, Road trip (i could list thousands, but the general feel of these should give you an idea of what I’m aiming for…) and have always wanted to make something along them lines. Either a full on film or a 30 min sketch show; quick, fast, random comedy is where I’m at. (See things such as Big Train, Family Guy, Scrubs, A Bit of Fry and Laury, Harry Hill, Harry Enfield, Two Ronnies.. (I’ll stop there :p ))
So yeh, MP this year, a Music Video. 
FMP next year, I’m thinking a pilot sort of episode for a sketch show (I has lot’s of idea’s ) OR, dare I say this, a rather long film.
We shall see eh?
